MANCHESTER — Manchester High School West presented the first Joe Sullivan Creative Writing Award to 2014 graduate Crystalline Reynolds. The award was presented to the senior student who displayed passion and exuberance for creative writing, much like the man who taught English and creative writing at West for 34 years, retiring in 2002.
Joe Sullivan, who was also a longtime sports columnist and writer for the New Hampshire Union Leader, died last September at age 69.
Reynolds was selected by members of the school’s English department. A city resident, she will attend the New Hampshire Institute of Art, where she will study both art and creative writing.
