Vintage power boat sinks in Wolfeboro; cause unknown

WOLFEBORO — The New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol is investigating what caused a vintage power boat to sink in Lake Wentworth.

James Roome, 57, of Wolfeboro, was not injured when the 1950 Chris-Craft vessel he was operating sank around 5 p.m. Saturday in the Sister Island area of the lake, according to a release from state police.

Investigators say Roome was traveling at approximately 20 mph when a small wake struck the vessel. Roome flagged down a passing boater, who picked him up and brought him to shore, police said.

The boat sank at a depth of about 35 feet. Salvage efforts were expected to begin Sunday.
