DERRY — The body of a 39-year-old man was found Monday in an area of the Rockingham Recreational Trail after a lengthy search by police and New Hampshire Fish and Game officers.
The man has been identified as Sean Carrier of 16 Linlew Drive, Derry police Capt. Vern Thomas said in a news release.
Foul play is not suspected.
Carrier was reported missing Sunday night by his girlfriend, who hadn’t heard from him in a few days.
On Monday, police found his van, which was parked and appeared to be abandoned at the lot on Rockingham Trail at the intersection with Island Pond Road, Thomas said.
Police requested the assistance of New Hampshire Fish and Game in searching the heavily wooded recreational trail where the man was thought to be camping.
Four Fish & Game officers and 10 Derry police officers searched for approximately three and half hours before locating the man’s body near a stream off the trail.
There were no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances.
There was an indication that the man may have been using drugs prior to his death, Thomas said.
