NH business forms moving online

CONCORD — Gov. Maggie Hassan on Wednesday issued an executive order directing state agencies to move all possible business-related forms into an online format by Sept. 30, 2015.

The governor’s move followed a vote earlier in the day by the Executive Council to approve a contract for the Department of Information Technology (DoIT) to acquire new technology that makes data collection and online form submission more efficient and effective.

The technology will make it possible to link the information from new digital forms into existing databases without entering the information by hand.

In addition to directing state agencies to convert business-related forms to a digital format, the order also requires agencies to review all business-related forms to consider whether the forms are actually needed, to reduce duplicative forms and to determine whether the information requested is necessary to comply with the law or rules.

Agencies are required to submit a plan to the governor’s office and DoIT by the end of this August for how they will prioritize business-form conversion and to automate all possible business-related forms by June 30, 2015.
