Legion ball roundup: Goffstown, Derry prevail

Brendan Hall went 3-for-4 with a walk and two batted in to lead Goffstown Post 16 to its first win of the season, 11-6 over Jutras Post at Sullivan Field in Goffstown Thursday.

Chris Hood also went 3-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Mike Bailey was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. All of Goffstown’s hits were singles.

Jordan Bussiere led Jutras Post with a single, a double and two RBIs. Aaron Welch had a single and a triple. Sam Kasten had a two-run single.

Post 16 is 1-2. The game was the season opener for Jutras and its first in two seasons.

“Chris Hood pitched well for us,” said Goffstown coach Lenny Pappas. “A few errors in the field forced him to throw more than he had to. He ended up with 102 pitches over eight innings.”

It was 2-0 Goffstown until the bottom of the fourth when the hosts scored five runs on walks and throwing errors. — Harry Kozlowski
