Authorities identify kayaker who died after capsizing Lake Tarleton

The kayaker who died after his craft capsized in a Piermont lake Saturday was identified Monday as Bruce F. Phillips Sr., of Athol, Mass.

New Hampshire Fish and Game said Phillips, 64, flipped his kayak near the public boat launch in Lake Tarleton shortly after midnight. His daughter was paddling with him in a separate kayak.

Nearby boaters came to his rescue, but their attempts to resuscitate him failed. The cause of Phillips’ death remains under investigation.
