Manchester Crimewatch: Man asks for personal recognizance bail to help him keep his job

MANCHESTER — Adam Mathieu, 33, of 66 Whittemore Ave., pleaded innocent Tuesday in 9th Circuit Court-District Division-Manchester to a simple assault charge that alleges he kicked a woman in the right hand Monday at Whittemore Avenue.

A bail commissioner had set bail at $500 cash/surety and police prosecutors sought to have that bail maintained, with conditions that bar contact with the alleged victim and bar Mathieu from the woman’s residence.
Mathieu asked Judge William Lyons to set a high personal recognizance bail, instead of cash/surety, saying he needs to be able to go to work because his job is in jeopardy.

But the judge, noting Mathieu has a prior assault conviction, left the bail at $500 cash/surety. The trial was set for July 29.
Four-year-old case

A man from Lorain, Ohio, was arraigned Tuesday in 9th Circuit Court-District Division-Manchester on a 2010 possession of a controlled drug charge that alleges he was in possession of a drug Aug. 7, 2010, at Bridge and Elm streets.
Ahmed Glover, 31, asked Judge William Lyons for personal recognizance bail, saying: “I’m in New Hampshire by myself.” He also said: “I haven’t been in trouble for a year.”

But Lyons, noting the charge is four years old, set bail at the $1,000 cash/surety bail sought by police prosecutors. But he said he will recommend Glover for pretrial services.
Police prosecutor Carrissa Pelletier asked that Glover be referred to community connections court and he was scheduled to be back in court July 8.

Barred from contact

A city man charged with two misdemeanors of simple assault was arraigned Tuesday in 9th Circuit Court-District Division-Manchester, where he pleaded innocent to both charges.
Brandon Cushing, 21, of 187 Merrimack St., is accused of grabbing his girlfriend by the upper arm and holding on and putting his hand on her face and pushing her head back.

Bail was continued at $1,000 personal recognizance, with conditions barring Cushing from contact with the alleged victim and barring him from her residence. The trial was set for Aug. 5.
