Laconia blanks Keene in NECBL tilt

KEENE — Jack English gave up only two hits over six innings to lead Laconia to a 6-0 win over Keene in a New England Collegiate Baseball League contest Tuesday before 1,825 fans at Alumni Field.

English fanned eight and walked three to lead Laconia (6-8) over Keene (5-9).

Vinny Zarrillo homered leading off the game against Keene starter Michael Dunnigan, who lasted 3 1/3 innings allowing five runs and nine hits, with no walks and two strikeouts.

Keene had five hits, led by Stephen Smith and Taylor Perez with two apiece. Laconia had 13 hits, led by Matt Byrne with four. Ben Miller and Jacob Henson each had two hits. Henson had two RBI singles.

Keene will travel to Robbie Mills Park to face Laconia again Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
