Allenstown man killed in crash

ALLENSTOWN — A 66-year-old Allenstown man is dead after his motorcycle was struck by a car whose driver was distracted, police said.

The accident occurred around 7:40 a.m. Monday when Michael Phelps of Allenstown, driving a 2005 Honda VTX, was making a left turn from School Street onto Allenstown Road northbound. Police say he was struck by a 2007 Ford Focus driven by 22-year-old Jordan Heath of Concord, who was traveling southbound on Allenstown Road and ran a red light.

Phelps, who was wearing a helmet, according to Allenstown Police Chief Paul Paquette, was transported via helicopter to Concord Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
