CHARLESTOWN — A motorcyclist was airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon Saturday afternoon following an accident on Old Claremont Road.
Arthur Wright, of Mendon, Mass., was riding a motorcycle southbound on Old Claremont Road at Acworth Road Saturday when the motorcycle struck the rear end of a car that entered the intersection, Charlestown police Chief Patrick Connors said Monday.
“Arthur was wearing a helmet. He was transported to the landing pad at Patch Park where he was medi-flighted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon,” Connors said.
Wright was talking and conscious on scene, but “We suspected that he had a head injury,” Connors said.
Connors said he was off duty but responded to the scene of the crash that occurred at about 2:25 p.m.
The man driving the car was not injured, he said.
“We’re still investigating the cause of the crash,” Connors said. “We don’t know if speed was a factor, or could it have been the sun glare. We’re working on that.”
