PETERBOROUGH — Community groups will be coming out for calling hours for fallen Marine Brandon Garabrant Thursday.

Calling hours are at ConVal Regional High School on Route 202/Hancock Road in Peterborough on Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m.

The veterans motorcycle group, The Patriot Guard, plan to make a showing of 400 motorcyclists at calling hours Thursday, said Peterborough Fire Department spokesperson Jim Grant.Members of the Sea Cadets Monadnock Squadron also plan to attend in their Navy service dress white uniforms.

In an effort organized by the New Hampshire State Firemen’s Association, area firefighters plan to arrive at 6:30 p.m. in their dress uniforms, Grant said.

“We should have a big contingent at 6:30 p.m.,” he said.

On Saturday, a service for Garabrant is planned to take place at ConVal at 10 a.m. followed by a burial service at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.

On June 20, Garabrant was one of three Marines killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan, where he was serving in the final months of America’s combat mission there.

The 19-year-old Marine grew up Greenfield and graduated from ConVal in 2013. Garabrant was a Fire Explorer and Police Explorer in Peterborough and a Temple firefighter before he joined the Marines. The family has said that memorial contributions in Brandon’s name may be made to Touchstone Farm; Wounded Vet Riding Program, 13 Pony Farm Lane, Temple, NH 03084 or to the NH Fire Explorers Academy, PO Box 592, Keene, NH 03431.
