Kurt Busch penalized after failing inspection
NASCAR took 10 points away from Sprint Cup driver Kurt Busch on Tuesday after his third-place finish in Sunday’s Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway because his No. 41 car failed a post-race inspection.
After Busch’s car was taken to NASCAR’s R&D Center in Concord, N.C., it was determined that the track bar measurement exceeded the maximum of 3 inches stipulated in the rule book.
Daniel Knost, Busch’s Stewart-Hass crew chief, was fined $10,000 and car owner Gene Haas also lost 10 points.
Busch fell from 24th to 26th in the Sprint Cup Series points standings after losing the 10 points.
Aric Almirola won the rain-shortened race.
