Warren begins three-day Old Home Day celebration Friday
WARREN — On Friday, the town will kick off its three-day Old Home Day celebration, featuring music, fireworks, an ATV parade and a lobster feast.
From 4 to 6 Friday night, the Warren Fire Department will hold a chicken barbecue behind Warren Village School. It will be followed from 6 to 8 p.m. by an open mike session on the common where the band Sky King will perform from 8 until midnight, taking a break only for a fireworks display at 9 p.m.
On Saturday, Old Home Day ramps up at 7 a.m. with a virtual exhibit at the state fish hatchery, breakfast to go from 8 to 10 a.m. at Kitchen on the Corner, a Hillbilly Hoedown-themed ATV parade at 11 a.m. beginning at Sanford Memorial Field, and a quilt display afterward at the United Warren Methodist Church.
From noon until 3 p.m. Saturday, the Warren-Wentworth Ambulance Service will put on a lobster lunch in front of the Village School. At 12:30, there will be an ATV poker run, At 1:30 p.m. a Tae Kwon Do demonstration will be held. At 2:30 p.m., a horseshoe contest will be held next to Town Hall. A kids watermelon-eating contest will begin at 3. The Red Hat Band will play from 3:30 until 7:30 p.m., while Highway 5 performs from 8 until midnight.
Old Home Day wraps up on Sunday with a 7 a.m. pancake breakfast at the Masonic Hall, a fishing derby at the fish hatchery at 8 a.m. and a church service at 10 a.m. on the common by the United Warren Methodist Church.A Kiddie Parade will be held on the tennis courts in the common at noon, and at 12:15 p.m. a granite bench will be dedicated to the memory of Nelson Kennedy Jr.
A pig roast will be held at 1 p.m., and the Crunchy Western Boys will provide musical entertainment from 12:30 to 4 p.m.Except where noted, most of the above events will take place at the Warren Town Common, located at the intersection of New Hampshire routes 25 and 25C and which boasts a Redstone Missile, which recently got some much needed improvements, including a new coat of bright, white paint.
