PORTSMOUTH — Everyone affected by drug addiction, those battling it as well as friends and family members who want to learn more about resources available to address it, are invited to attend the first Community Access to Recovery Day Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, which is partnering with the Portsmouth Police Department.
Attendance is free at the event where counselors will be available to assist those looking for help and information on programs and services. Seacoast Mental Health, Seacocast Public Health Network, Allies in Substance Abuse Prevention, Hampstead Hospital, Sexual Assault Support Services, Southeastern New Hampshire Services, Families First and other groups will be represented at the event.
There will be an “amnesty box” where attendees can dispose of illicit or prescription drugs or paraphernalia, which will be disposed of by local law enforcement. No one turning in these items will be prosecuted.
Coffee and light refreshments will be available.
