Manchester man charged after alleged drug deal

MANCHESTER — Police officers working a plainclothes assignment shortly after midnight Saturday observed what appeared to be a drug transaction in the area of Don Quijote’s Restaurant on Valley Street.

Officer Andrew Delorey and Sgt. Brandon Murphy said a male was standing next to a pickup truck, parked in the north end of the parking lot with the door slightly ajar. The male then walked toward the nightclub and the truck driver drove toward the Valley Street exit of the lot.

The officers conducted a motor vehicle stop and identified the driver as Ramon Rodriguez-Urena, 23, of Manchester.

As Rodriguez-Urena stepped out of the car at the officers’ request, they saw him drop a small bag on the ground. The bag contained a substance that tested positive for cocaine.

Officers seized several additional bags of cocaine and $1,100 in cash during a search related to the arrest. Rodriguez-Urena was charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute.
