Concord prep school grad charged in sexual assault of 15-year-old

July 16. 2014 2:12PM

CONCORD — A June graduate of St. Paul’s School was arrested Wednesday and charged with the sexual assault of a 15-year-old female student on campus May 30, the beginning of graduation weekend.

Owen A. Labrie, 18, of Potash Hill Road, Tunbridge, Vt., is charged with three counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault, three misdemeanor counts of sexual assault and one felony count of certain uses of computer services prohibited.

The computer charge alleges Labrie used an online computer service to lure the 15-year-old to meet with him. Labrie allegedly took the victim into an unauthorized area, where he is accused of engaging in sexual acts when consent was not freely given.

In addition, the alleged victim is under the age of consent.

Police Lt. Timothy O’Malley said the incident apparently was the result of an ongoing scheme or competition in which computers were utilized. He said no alcohol or drugs were involved.

O’Malley said school officials have fully cooperated with the investigation, which is ongoing. He asked that anyone with information regarding the matter call police at 225-8600.

According to his Facebook page, Labrie, a 6-foot soccer player, “studies at Harvard.” He also was listed as a Presidential Scholar candidate in January.

The alleged assault was reported June 3 and the arrest is the result of a month-long investigation by Concord police.

Labrie turned himself in to police Wednesday morning and was released on $15,000 personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled for arraignment Sept. 15 in Sixth Circuit Court-Concord District Division.
