Fair Season

Stratham Fair brings back seasonal favorites


 

In 1966, the Straham community had such fun at a celebration of its 250th anniversary that townsfolk have been gathering every summer since then for an annual bash.

The Stratham Fair, with its chicken barbecue, pig scrambles, horse pulls, 4-H exhibits, carnival rides and pie-eating contest, kicks off today and runs through Sunday at Stratham Hill Park on Route 33.

The Miss Outstanding Teen Pageant is set for 4 p.m. and Miss Stratham Fair Pageant starts at 7 p.m., both today.

Friday’s Main Stage performances will include People Like You Band at 1 p.m., Gretchen and the Pickpockets at 3 p.m., Tim McCoy and the Bluebirds at 5:30 p.m. and Josh Logan, with opening act Brett Wilson, at 8 p.m.

Saturday, it’s a country lineup with Dusty Gray at 2 p.m., Jillian Cardarelli at 4:30 p.m., Jandee Lee Porter Band at 5:30 p.m. and Ryan Brooks Kelly at 8 p.m.

Sunday is “NH Made Day,” featuring locally made products and music by Chris Cyrus, Middle Ground and the North River Group.

In addition, The Front Page Stage will feature LJ Delta at 3:30 p.m., Gene Sibley Group at 5 p.m., Johnny and the Two Timers at 6:30 p.m. and Deep Fryd Blues at 8 p.m. today.

Next up is Black Agnes at 12:30 p.m., Sam Robbins at 2 p.m., The Groovetones at 3:30 p.m., Joel Glenn Wixson at 5 p.m., The Stairwells at 6:30 p.m. and Bad Prom Date at 8 p.m. Friday. Then, it’s George Hosker/Got Art at noon, Brown and White at 1:30 p.m., Earth 2 Rooney at 3 p.m., Liana Morris at 4:30 p.m., Hilton Park at 6 p.m. and Freight Train at 8 p.m Saturday.

On the final day, it’s Gospel Groove at 10:30 a.m., MiddleGround at noon, Poo Poo Platters at 1:30 p.m., Dance Innovations at 3 p.m., The New Englanders at 4:30 p.m., North River Band at 6 p.m. and The Crab Shack Band at 8 p.m. Sunday.
