A 'no holds barred' event for Senate candidate Rubens Saturday

MANCHESTER — Arizona Gray and his wife, Joan Blais, are inviting people who aren’t familiar with Jim Rubens, who is seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, to a “no holds barred” event with the candidate Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. at their home at 47 Byledge Road.

Rubens, who describes himself as a fiscal conservative, served two terms as a state senator before an unsuccessful bid for governor in the 1990s. Rubens also chaired the Granite State Coalition Against Expanded Gambling for years, before stepping down to become a U.S. Senate candidate.

Gray said he it doesn’t make sense to invite people to the Saturday event who already support Rubens and know where he stands on issues.

“This is an opportunity for people who don’t know much about Rubens to come and meet him,” said Gray. Attendees are encouraged to feel free to ask Rubins hard questions. Gray said Rubens made a promise: “He said he wouldn’t dodge ‘em.”
