DERRY — Town crews are in the process of using fill to flatten in areas of several town-owned properties near Abbott Court and Central Court, according to public works officials.
Public works crews cleaned up part of the properties last fall, removing debris and concrete, said Public Works Director Michael Fowler during Tuesday night’s town council meeting.
Fowler updated councilors on the ongoing project that is designed to get the properties ready to be sold or possibly turned into a park.
Fowler said the properties, admittedly, looked rather poor and needed work.
Public works was unable to finish the job last fall and, because of the long winter, got a somewhat late start in the spring, Fowler said. But the crews have been making some progress this summer, he said.
“What I’d like to say is we are not completely there, but we are certainly working in that direction to make it a much more sightly location for anybody that comes to the Abbott Court area,” Fowler said. “I do think it has made some progress.”
Much of the debris that cluttered the properties has been removed, Fowler said.
