Maine man hurt in ATV accident in northern NH

BERLIN — A Scarborough, Maine man was injured in an ATV crash Sunday night while riding the Vista Twista Trail in Jericho Mountain State Park.

Daniel Carreiro, 20, was making a right turn on a downhill slope at 7:20 p.m. when he lost control and went over the bars of the machine, according to New Hampshire Fish & Game officials.

The ATV then flipped over and hit Carreiro.

Berlin EMS, with the help of personnel from the New Hampshire Trails Bureau and the Berlin fire and police departments, were able to reach the section of the trail where the crash happened.

Carreiro was transported to Androscoggin Valley Hospital for treatment.

The incident remains under investigation.

Fish and Game officials issued a reminder for ATV riders to use extra caution when operating on uneven terrain.
