Roofer who bilked customers out of $19k gets 3 to 6 years
BRENTWOOD — A roofing contractor who took nearly $19,000 in deposits from customers and “purposely” failed to provide his services or refunds was sentenced Tuesday in Rockingham Superior Court to 3 to 6 years in state prison, according to a release from the Attorney General’s Office.
Timothy J. Currier, owner of Green Home Energy Systems, told three customers from September 2011 through May 2012 an “untrue” story that he was replacing a roof on a church and could provide them with a discount on materials if they signed immediate contracts and provided him with a deposit, the release said.
He was convicted March 5 of a felony count of theft and three counts of deception.
In addition to his prison sentence, he was sentenced to pay restitution to his victims, the release said.
