KEENE — A former member of the Claremont Middle School Parent Teacher Organization has been arrested for theft from a PTO fund.

Rebecca Remick, 40, of Claremont was arrested Monday for felony theft for allegedly exercising unauthorized control of more than $2,000 in Claremont Middle School PTO funds, Claremont Police Chief Alex Scott said Wednesday.

Remick was a member of the PTO at the time of the thefts. An investigation into Remick began in April when SAU #6 officials notified Claremont police of concerns, Scott said.

“Remick has been cooperative with authorities during the entire investigation, which started in April. Remick has reimbursed the PTO for the missing funds,” Scott said.

Remick is postmaster at the United States Post Office on Broad Street. A postal worker at the post office said Wednesday that Remick is currently on leave.

She is scheduled to be arraigned on the felony charge for Aug. 25 in the 5th Circuit Court-District Division-Claremont.
