Claremont dispatcher's hearing continued, no new date set

KEENE — The probable cause hearing for a Claremont police dispatcher accused of incest and sexual assault was continued Wednesday.

No new court date has been set, said a court clerk Wednesday at the 8th Circuit Court-District Division-Keene where the hearing was set.

James Boisclair, 53, of Claremont was arrested July 9 by state police on charges of aggravated felonious sexual assault and incest.

Boisclair has worked for the Claremont Police Department as a dispatcher for the past 15 years. He was placed on paid administrative leave by Claremont Police Chief Alex Scott after his arrest, pending a department review.

Scott said Wednesday that Boisclair remains on paid administrative leave.

Scott said he doesn’t have the information he needs to make a determination on Boisclair’s employment status.

“We have not been made privy to the facts yet,” Scott said.

He added he expects to receive that information by the end of the week and said his decision regarding Boisclair’s employment would follow soon after.

Investigators are alleging Boisclair sexually assaulted the victim over a 20-year span, from the age of 4 to the age of 24. Throughout the years of abuse he threatened to kill the victim if she told anyone about the abuse, according to Cheshire County Attorney Chris McLaughlin.

More charges are likely to follow, McLaughlin said. The arrest affidavit outlining the investigation has been sealed by prosecutors until Sept. 10.

Boisclair remains in the Cheshire County House of Corrections in Keene in lieu of $100,000 cash or surety.
