Today's a great day for hockey
Forget the heat, it’s hockey time on Elm Street. Street hockey, that is.
The Manchester Monarchs will hold their fourth annual Summer Fan Fest on the plaza at Verizon Wireless Arena from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.
Events on the agenda include a street hockey tournament, autograph sessions with former and current Monarchs players, sales at the pro shop and kids’ activities such as an inflatable bounce house, obstacle course, sumo wrestling, face painting and photo opportunities with mascot Max.
A section of Elm Street from Lake Avenue to Harry Theo Lane will be blocked off for the street hockey tournament, which features three age divisions.
Players signing autographs will be former Monarchs Derek Bekar and Richard Seeley (signing from 10 a.m. to noon) and current player Ian O’Connor (9-11 a.m.), who is a Londonderry native.
Fans will also have the opportunity to select seats for the 2014-15 Monarchs season at the Fan Fest. The regular season schedule will be announced in late August.
