ROCHESTER — Following an increase in thefts from vehicles, including an attempted crime early Saturday morning, police encourage residents to remain wary.
Police and emergency personnel responded around 1 a.m. after receiving a report that two men had attempted to “go through a locked vehicle” near So’field Apartments on Rochester Hill Road.
The men left after being confronted by the owner, who attempted to stop them from leaving. As a result, he was dragged a short distance by their vehicle – which he described as dark-colored sedan, according to police.
While the owner sustained minor scrapes, he declined medical assistance, according to police.
As there has been a noticeable increase in thefts from motor vehicles in the city, police advise drivers and residents to lock their vehicles and remove any valuables that may be in view. Police also warn residents not to approach anyone attempting to steal from homes or vehicles, but to contact the authorities.
