A month later, no arrests in Rumney chiropractor's death

RUMNEY — A month after a local chiropractor died from a single gunshot wound to the head near a dock on Stinson Lake, state homicide investigators are “moving close” to getting a good idea what happened in the shooting, but have still made no arrests.

Dr. David Landseadel, 48, was killed after a fight with another local man on June 29, authorities said.

Landseadel, who is described by friends as being kind and devoted to helping others, died in what investigators ruled a homicide. Senior Assistant Attorney General Janice Rundles said a gun was fired after an altercation between the two men.

On Monday, Rundles said the case is starting to take shape, thanks to information from the public.

“We have received some phone calls and letters, to the point where we feel like we’re getting a more complete picture of (Landseadel) and the relationship between the two men,” Rundles said.

Rundles would not give a time frame for the case going forward, saying investigators still hope for more public input.

She would not identify the second man, but said investigators are getting a good idea of his history and relationship with Landseadel.

Authorities don’t fear the second man will flee, and have not ordered him to stay in the area, she said.

“That’s not a concern for us,” she said, declining to elaborate.

Landseadel’s body was discovered near some shared docks on Stinson Lake in Rumney by local rescue crews who were alerted by a passerby.

Landseadel lived at 2279 Stinson Lake Road with his wife. They ran Plymouth Chiropractic together.
