Vermont rallies to top Swamp Bats


Vermont stormed back from a three-run deficit to take a 7-6 win over the Keene Swamp Bats on Wednesday night in Montpelier, Vt.

The Mountaineers (26-13) trailed, 6-3, but scored three times in the fifth inning and once in the sixth.

Stephen Smith hit a two-run home run for Keene (17-21), which also for a 3-for-5 night, an RBI and a run from Robbie Coman, and a 2-for-5 night with an RBI and a run from Zach Lauricella.

The Swamp Bats will resume two suspended games today at Alumni Field. At 2 p.m., Keene will pick up a 6-6 tie with North Adams in the bottom of the seventh inning. At 6:30, the Swamp Bats and Ocean State will resume a 1-1 tie in the top of the second.
