Maryland man arrested after car hits Merrimack home


MERRIMACK — A Maryland man was arrested early Friday morning after he crashed his car into the porch of an Amherst Road home.

Police said Darrell Ferguson, 22, of Upper Marlboro was driving under the influence of liquor about 3:30 a.m. when his 1999 Lexus hit the porch at a residence at 225 Amherst Road.

A preliminary police investigation revealed the Lexus was traveling east on Amherst Road when it drifted into the other lane, went off the road and hit the residence causing minor damage

Ferguson, after a brief discussion with police, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor.

He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail, pending arraignment Aug. 7 in 9th Circuit Court-District Division-Merrimack.
