Feds seek to seize $17k, weapons from two Candia men charged in drug case

BRENTWOOD — Prosecutors have asked a judge for permission to seize $17,810 from two Candia men charged with drug possession after police said they found the cash and roughly 5 pounds of marijuana inside their home.

Candia police responded to 131 Old Manchester Road on May 9 for a report of a burglar alarm.

But officers soon became suspicious when they smelled marijuana inside the rented home, prosecutors said.

One of the men, Brandon Boisvert, 21, assured an officer, “We smoke a lot of weed in here,” according to prosecutors.

Police obtained a search warrant.

Boisvert was indicted in Rockingham County Superior Court last month on a charge of possession of a controlled drug with intent to sell. Jon-Marc Levasseur was also arrested on drug charges, police said.

Federal prosecutors filed paperwork on Wednesday to seize the cash, two 9mm pistols, a Remington shotgun and ammunition found by Candia police at the home, according to court documents.

During the search of the apartment, police discovered a storage room located within a closet, court papers say. “In the storage room, officers found a large orange metal container which was locked and secured to a support beam by a large steel cable,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Rabuck said in a court complaint. Police officers found a key for the container on a chain hanging on Boisvert’s bed post, prosecutors said.

Inside the storage container police found multiple vacuum-sealed bags that contained more than 5 pounds of marijuana, according to prosecutors. Police also found a ledger with dates and transactions totaling thousands of dollars, along with $16,000 in cash, prosecutors said.

Levasseur allegedly opened a second small safe inside a closet in his bedroom.

Police found more than 8 ounces of marijuana and more than $1,000 in cash, a ledger and a digital scale, prosecutors said.
