Cole allows four hits, but Fisher Cats lose one in Akron
Taylor Cole took the loss for the Fisher Cats, dropping to 0-2 despite allowing just four hits.
New Hampshire (57-62) and Akron (65-55) will play again tonight at 7 p.m.
The Rubber Ducks pushed their lead to 3-1 with a single run in the bottom of the sixth. LaHair walked and Jordan Smith simgled to move him to third. A wild pitch from Taylor Cole then allowed LaHair to score.
Jorge Flores singled to open the ninth for New Hampshire, but a double play from the bat of Jon Berti and flyout from Andy Burns ended the game.
Ramon Cabrera singled home Dixon Machado in the 13th inning to lead host Erie past New Hampshire 3-2 in an Eastern League contest Thursday at Jerry Uht Park. Machado singled to open the frame and, as he was stealing second, Cabrera singled to center for the game-winning walk-off hit.
Erie grabbed a 1-0 second inning lead, taking advantage of an error. Steven Moya opened the inning by reaching on a fielding error by New Hampshire second baseman Andy Fermin. Dean Green singled Moya to third and Aaron Westlake drove him home with a sacrifice fly.
He was in line for the mound win until the seventh inning when New Hampshire releiver Mickey Storey gave up a solo homer to Westlake with one out. It was Westlake’s 11th homer of the season. Jorge Flores, batting .293, led New Hampshire’s 10-hit attack with three hits. Burns had two hits.
