After being clocked at 134 mph on I-93, man arrested in Concord

A high-speed joyride on Interstate 93 south Monday morning has a Massachusetts man facing three charges in court.

Daniel Thibeault, 31, of Swansea, Mass., was clocked by the New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit going 134 mph and estimated to reach close to 185 on a stretch of I-93 between Canterbury and Concord.

Not even that was fast enough to outrun a radio, a helicopter and teamwork between troopers on the ground and in the air.

According to police, Thibeault was clocked by the State Police helicopter going 134 mph in a 70 mph zone at about 11 a.m. He was also passing vehicles in both breakdown lanes as well as the center of the highway.

Troopers on the ground decided not to chase Thibeault and instead asked the helicopter’s pilot to follow him from the air.

Thibeault got off I-93 at exit 15W, where police said he continued to pass vehicles on the ramp and on I-393 west. He eventually stopped behind a business on North Main Street in Concord.

That information was relayed to troopers on the ground who arrested Thibeault. He’s charged with reckless conduct, disobeying an officer, and driving after suspension and was being held on $1,000 cash bail Monday.

Thibeault is due to appear in the 6ith Circuit Court-District Division-Concord to answer to the charges on Tuesday.

No further information was available from State Police concerning the incident.
