Sheehan gets Executive Council endorsement from NH firefighters group

The Professional Firefighters of New Hampshire endorsed Nashua Alderman Diane Sheehan for Executive Council District 5 on Monday.

Sheehan and former state Rep. Jennifer Dale of Temple are vying for the Democratic nomination in the state primary Sept. 9.

Steve Hattamer of Hollis and Dave Wheeler of Milford are running for the Republican nomination.

District 5 is an open seat this fall, with Executive Councilor Debora Pignatelli, D-Nashua, not running for re-election.

Dave Lang, president of Professional Firefighters of New Hampshire, cited Sheehan’s leadership and experience as a three-term member of the Nashua Board of Aldermen as a reason for his union’s support.

“She’s an independent thinker,” he said.

Last month, the State Employees’ Association of New Hampshire/SEIU Local 1984 endorsed Daler for Executive Council.

Daler and Sheehan were scheduled to participate in a candidates’ forum Monday night at Nashua City Hall.
