Claremont timber cutting will be explained on tour
CLAREMONT — The Claremont Conservation Commission has planned a guided tour of Moody Park later this month to answer to concerns over last winter’s timber cut in the park.
In compliance with the city’s forest management plan, Moody Park at 152 Maple Ave., underwent a timber cutting project last winter.
“Many citizens have expressed concern with the current ‘look’ of the park,” the commission said in a press release Tuesday. “To alleviate citizen concern, the Claremont Conservation Commission invites the public to attend a tour guided by Dennis McKenney (consulting forester). Dennis will discuss why certain areas were cut and also the future of the park and how regrowth will occur.”
The guided tour is planned to take place on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 8:30 a.m.
The rain date, if needed, is Aug. 24.
The tour is free and all Claremont residents are encouraged to attend. Anyone from the public is welcome.
