Bail set at $5,000 for Mass. man who drove motorcycle at up to 185 mph

August 12. 2014 12:25PM

CONCORD — Bail was set at $5,000 cash Tuesday in Circuit Court-Concord District Division for a Massachusetts man accused of driving a stolen motorcycle at speeds up to 185 mph on Interstate 93.

Daniel Thibeault, 31, of Swansea, appeared in court by video.

Thibeault is charged with felony reckless conduct, felony receiving stolen property, misdemeanor disobeying a police officer, and a violation of operating after suspension.

Judge Gerard Boyle set the cash bail after hearing about not only Thibeault's alleged motorcycle operation, but also his extensive motor vehicle record and failures to appear in court.

A probable cause hearing on the felonies was set for Aug. 19, when a judge will decide whether there is sufficient evidence to send the case to the Merrimack County Grand Jury for possible indictment.

Boyle set a trial management conference on the remaining charges for Sept. 8.
