Sen. Shaheen says Canada should be option for prescriptions
CONCORD — U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., said people should be allowed to buy cheaper prescription drugs from Canada as part of the country’s effort to rein in health care costs.
Shaheen, speaking to a room of seniors at Havenwood Heritage Heights in Concord on Tuesday, cited a bill she is co-sponsoring with Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., that would do just that.
Shaheen discussed issues key to older and younger Americans alike, including the need to strengthen Medicare and protect Social Security.
Her office noted she introduced the Medicare Protection Act to oppose any changes that would reduce guaranteed benefits or raise the eligibility age.
