Manchester assistant chief to attend institute on violence against women

MANCHESTER — Assistant Police Chief Nick Willard will attend a four-day institute aimed at combating crimes of violence against women.

The institute, in Kansas City, Mo., will explore new approaches for investigating crimes of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and stalking.

Along with other law enforcement executives attending the Aug. 24-27 institute, Willard will focus on planning and methods for effective resource allocation to help victims and hold the perpetrators accountable, and will work to develop coordinated community efforts to address the issues.

A grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women, to the International Association of Chiefs of Police supports the institute attendance of the law enforcement executives.
