Father and son accused in Laconia con

On Thursday, after what police called an intensive two-day investigation, Joseph Bavis Jr., 23, and his father Joseph Bavis Sr., 47, both transients, were arrested.

Bavis Sr. is charged with theft by deception, while Bavis Jr. is facing a conspiracy to commit theft by deception charge.

They were arrested about 7:30 p.m. in a parking lot of a business on Parade Road.

Police said the the Bavises duped at least two individuals into buying a piece of construction equipment called a skid steer loader.

Both are expected to be arraigned today in 4th Circuit Court, Laconia District Division.

The case remains under investigation and additional charges are anticipated.
