Rochester man facing attempted murder charge
DOVER -; A Rochester man was indicted recently for allegedly attempting to kill a woman in May.
Jeffrey Hance, 24, of 12 Academy St., has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and second-degree assault for allegedly using his hands to strangle a woman on May 10 in Rochester “with a purpose of causing the death of another.”
A grand jury handed up the indictments Aug. 14. Hance is scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court Aug. 28 at 9 a.m.
Attempted murder is a felony that could yield a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $4,000 fine, while second-degree assault is a Class B felony that could result in 3½ to 7 years in prison and a $4,000 fine.
