Editorial: Garcia gains Lambert lies

Gary Lambert apparently has decided that he can win the Republican nomination for Congress in New Hampshire’s 2nd District by making up stuff about rival Marilinda Garcia rather than offering Republicans a good reason to vote for him. How sad.

Lambert has accused Garcia of wanting to raise taxes by $150 million when she actually proposed closing some tax loopholes so the income tax rate could be lowered. If you wonder what Gary Lambert’s proposal for tax reform is, well, you are not alone. We asked him during our candidate interview, and he had no plan. He could not say what he preferred, and he did not seem to know the difference between various reform options that have been discussed in Washington for decades.

He also has accused Garcia of being for amnesty for illegal aliens, when she is not. What does Lambert support? Other than more border security, he is not quite sure about that, either.

Gary Lambert is offering Republican voters a big bag of nothing. No wonder he feels like his only chance at the nomination is to mislead voters about his opponent. And no wonder Garcia is gathering more support every week.
