Former Derry town administrator guilty of indecent exposure

BRENTWOOD — Former Derry town administrator John Anderson was found guilty of indecent exposure and lewdness for appearing naked when a DirectTV salesmen entered his home.

The conviction is a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in county jail. Anderson will be sentenced Sept. 12 in 10th Circuit Court, Derry Division.

Judge Lucinda Sadler, who presided over the trial, issued her decision on Thursday after throwing out another count of indecent exposure at the close of the state’s case.

The salesman testified he went to Anderson’s home last July 11 to sell television services. He said he walked into the home and averted his eyes once he saw that Anderson was naked, according to prosecutors.

Anderson testified that he was naked because he used his underwear “to clean up spilled water just prior to letting the victim in the home,” prosecutors said.

Sadler said in her court order that she did not find Anderson’s testimony plausible, but that she did believe the victim in the case.
