Brian’s Ride Home benefits Afghanistan veteranSTAFF REPORT

CONCORD — A motorcycle poker run to help build a home for Cpl. Brian Aft will set off at 10:45 a.m. Saturday from Makris Lobster & Steakhouse on Route 106, Registration is at 9:30 a.m.
Donations of $25 per bike, $10 per passenger for Brian’s Ride Home will go to Smiles Charity. Chichester resident Brad Merrill served in the Marine Corps with Aft. F.L. Merrill Construction’s family and friends are working together to help raise money for the new home.
“During one of their tours in Afghanistan in 2011, Brian was severely injured by an IED and lost both of his legs,” a news release from the charity states. “His dog, Buckshot, who was at his side, was affected with dog PTSD. Brian who lives in Dallas, Texas, is this year’s Smiles Charity Home Recipient.”The ride ends at Makris Lobster & Steakhouse. Checkpoints include Patrick’s Pub & Eatery, Hawg’s Pen and Northwoord Mobil.
There is a 4 p.m. after-party with food, live music from Red Sky Mary, 50/50 raffle and silent auction. Donations are $10 for non-event participants.
