“They were ready to go in June to grab the guy [Foley] and they weren’t permitted,” a former U.S. intelligence officer told the Washington bureau chief for The Times of London.
Another defense source said, “The White House constantly goes back and forth on these things. These people are a bunch of academics who endlessly analyse stuff and ordering up another deep-thinking paper but can’t decide what to order for lunch.”
The implication was crystal clear: James Foley might be alive today had President Obama authorized the mission to rescue him when it was first presented to him. The group of pigs that murdered Foley presented Obama with another decision last week. How long will he fail to act on this one?
Over the weekend, Sen. Kelly Ayotte urged the President to bomb the terror group immediately. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, who sits on the Senate Foreign Relations and Armed Services Committees, was silent, as were Reps. Carol Shea-Porter (who sits on Armed Services) and Annie Kuster.
Why is Kelly Ayotte the only member of New Hampshire’s congressional delegation to urge a swift and forceful action to weaken this growing terror threat after the murder of a New Hampshire constituent? Is the power of partisanship strong enough to silence Shaheen, Shea-Porter and Kuster on this huge matter of national security? If that is the reason, how shameful.
