NH Red Cross branch given emergency response vehicle

CONCORD — The New Hampshire branch of the American Red Cross has received an emergency response vehicle to help meet the needs of people caught in disasters.

The Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation announced the donation on Monday. The American Red Cross New Hampshire Region received one of five vehicles donated by Anthem nationally.

“With the generous gift provided by Anthem, our emergency response vehicle will continue to enable the Red Cross Disaster Relief Services when it’s needed most,” said Maria White-Devlin, chief executive officer for American Red Cross New Hampshire.

The response vehicle is a 2006 Ford E456. Such vehicles are used for serving meals in areas affected by disaster, deployment of volunteers and delivery of cleaning supplies.

The vehicle stays local, unless a national emergency occurs, and it will be deployed where needed. Other vehicles were donated to organizations in Louisville, Ky.; Los Angeles; St. Louis; and New York.
