Fisher Cats drop final home game
MANCHESTER — The fireworks after the game were the only high note Thursday night for the 6,009 fans at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The Harrisburg Senators spoiled New Hampshire’s final home game of the season, routing the Fisher Cats, 9-3.
Harrisburg got to New Hampshire starter Austin Bibens-Dirkx early in the contest, highlighted by top Nationals prospect Matt Skole’s two-run homer in the first inning. Skole went 3-for-5 with three RBIs.
The Senators were up 4-0 before the end of the inning and never relinquished the lead. Kevin Keyes’ two-run homer in the second inning padded the lead to 6-0.
Bibens-Dirkx allowed six earned runs, seven hits and two walks in four innings of work, earning the loss. He dropped to 6-4.
The Fisher Cats scored all their runs in the third on Andy Burns’ three-run homer.
Senators starter Brian Dupra (2-6) allowed three earned runs and seven hits over five innings en route to the win.
New Hampshire concludes its season with a three-game Labor Day weekend series at New Britain. The teams play tonight at 7:05 p.m.
