Man shot at in Nashua drive-by charged with unrelated possession of stolen gun
NASHUA — A passenger in a car that was fired at on Pratt Street this week faces gun charges in an unrelated incident.
Devonta Soto, 21, of 7 Forge Drive, was arrested early Thursday, the day after two Manchester men were arrested in connection with shooting at a car in which Soto was riding.
Informed by Bedford police that a wanted subject might be in a Nashua resident's vehicle, police located the vehicle in the area of 121 Main St. and established surveillance.
Police say Soto was spotted reaching into the vehicle and placing what appeared to be a handgun in his waistband. When officers approached, Soto ran. Police chased him down and took him into custody off Water Street near the Nashua River.
Police say he was unarmed when captured. Nashua police divers recovered a weapon after searching the river for about an hour.
Police determined that Soto had a prior felony conviction and that the gun in question was allegedly stolen during a Bedford burglary. Soto was charged with felony receiving stolen property, felon in possession of a weapon, felony falsifying physical evidence, two misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and one of resisting detention.
Soto is being held on $50,000 cash bail pending arraignment in Circuit Court-Nashua District division.
