UNH student reports attempted abduction; Police step up patrols as school year starts
DURHAM - The University of New Hampshire and Durham police departments were increasing patrols this weekend after a UNH student reported an attempted abduction off-campus.
According to the report, two of the men got out of the car and grabbed the woman by the arm and opened the trunk. Police said some male friends of the woman came along, and the other men returned to the car and fled. The car was described as a tan sedan with South Carolina plates.
MANCHESTER - Officers from the Manchester Police Department will be going back to school this week, too.
Police say officers will be at schools and patrolling the areas around the city's middle and high schools when classes resume Tuesday.
The department issued a statement saying it hoped to work with schools, parents and students for a safe academic year.
