NEA endorses Hassan for governor

CONCORD — The state’s largest public employees union, the National Education Association-New Hampshire, endorsed Gov. Maggie Hassan for reelection Tuesday.

“Governor Maggie Hassan has been a tireless advocate for public education, and we must reelect her this November to preserve the dream of a quality public education for every child in New Hampshire,” said Scott McGilvray, NEA-NH president and former Manchester Education Association president. “Walt Havenstein or Andrew Hemingway would be a disaster for public education in this state, taking us back to the devastating cuts of the Bill O’Brien era.”

“I am truly honored to have earned the support of more than 16,000 of New Hampshire’s teachers and their families,” Hassan said.

Hassan faces the winner of the Sept. 9 GOP primary between former BAE CEO Walt Havenstein and businessman and political activist Andrew Hemingway.
