Barrington man arrested in Oregon on drug charges

A 24-year-old New Hampshire man was arrested in Oregon last weekend after police said he was caught transporting more than 30 pounds of marijuana in a motor home.

Oregon State Police said they stopped Matthew S. Balukas, 24, of Barrington last Saturday for a traffic violation along Highway 140, about two miles west of Lakeview, Ore. A police drug-detection dog discovered about 33 pounds individually wrapped one-pound packages of marijuana concealed inside the 1993 Ford motor home.

Police estimated the value of the marijuana at $80,000.

Balukas was arrested without incident and held in the Lake County Jail on a charge of unlawful possession, distribution and manufacture of a controlled substance.
