of the Week:

Fugitive lip biter arrested in California

A Nashua man, featured as the U.S. Marshal's "Fugitive of the Week" and wanted for seriously injuring a woman in biting her lip, was captured in San Diego, Calif.

Fernando Anton, 23, last known to reside in Nashua, was being sought on a warrant obtained by Nashua police charging him with first degree assault. He is accused of a violent assault on a woman on Sept. 27 in Nashua during which he bit her lip, which resulted in serious injuries.

The incident was widely reported in New Hampshire and police followed up on countless leads, but none led to Anton's arrest.

Nashua requested the help of the U.S. Marshals -- N.H. Joint Fugitive Task Force. After Anton was featured as the "Fugitive of the Week," numerous additional tips came into police indicating Anton was on the West Coast.

Task force members located him in San Diego and he was arrested without incident. He is charged with being a fugitive from justice. He will be held at the San Diego County Jail without bail and eventually will return to New Hampshire.
