Sharks finally solve Monarchs

The Manchester Monarchs suffered their first loss to Worcester this season, 3-1, on Tuesday night at the DCU Center. The Monarchs were unbeaten in the previous six meetings of the teams.

David Van der Gulik scored Manchester’s goal in the first period. Michael Haley’s goal 2:21 into the third period gave the Sharks the lead, and Worcester added an empty-net goal with 29 seconds left.

Patrik Bartosak made his sixth straight start in goal for Manchester, making 28 saves.

The Monarchs return to Worcester on Friday night to play the Sharks. Manchester hosts Providence on Saturday night.
